  10. including:  working groups coming to closure and new working groups

  37. Discussion also focused on the ``new NICs'' (i.e., the InterNIC and the
  38. proposed/experimental APNIC - Asia/Pacific NIC).

  40. Jill Foster presented an update on RARE activities, including a report
  41. on the RARE Information Services/User Support (ISUS) activities.  The
  42. ISUS Working Group is broken down into several sub-areas:  Network User
  43. Support, Asynchronous Group Communication, and Networked Information
  44. Retrieval and Services Liaison.  WG-ISUS Task Forces are being set up to
  45. cover the main tasks outlined in the Workplan.  The following task
  46. forces are proposed (and many have started work):

  51.    o Networked Information Retrieval (joint RARE/IETF/CNI endeavor)

  70. Susan Calcari presented a talk on the new InterNIC. The InterNIC
  71. information services include:  Network Solutions provides the
  72. registration services, AT&T provides the Directory and Database
  73. Services, and General Atomics provides the information services.  NIS
  74. Fests and NIS manifests are planned.  The InterNIC reference desk will
  75. be open from 5am to 7pm Pacific time.  For more information on
